Mount Lemmon Marathon - The World's Toughest Road Marathon!
We are dedicated to providing runners an experience like no other. The Mount
Lemmon Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 10K take place in the Santa Catalina
Mountain's located just north of beautiful Tucson Arizona.
The Santa Catalina Mountains, with its diverse ecosystems and perfect
weather, is an ideal place to hold a racing event of this magnitude. The race
course climbs to more than 8200' ASL before descending into the town of
Summerhaven. The small town of Summerhaven is a wonderful place to end a
race. Situated in a quiet valley approximately 7600 feet above sea level,
Summerhaven is part of the rugged alpine peaks of the Catalinas
where a cool spring water flows through town. Adorned by small shops and
places to eat, it is a great place to spend a day.
2014 will again offer the full marathon starting at the bottom of the mountain
and following 5850' of vertical climbing to a spectacular finish in Summerhaven.
Combined with the Mt. Lemmon Marathon event is the 1st annual Mt. Lemmon
Gran Fondo. This unique cycling event will begin one hour before the marathon
and follows the marathon route ahead of the runners. Because of this exciting
addition, the 1/2 Marathon and 10K events will change. The new 1/2 marathon
course begins at the bottom of the mountain. Runners climb to 6.55 miles, turn
around and head down the mountain to the to the finish. The 10K follows the
same idea as the 1/2 marathon, beginning at the bottom of the mountain and
turning around at the 5K.
